Epson i3200 DTF Printhead: Common Problems & Fixes
The Epson i3200 is one of the most common DTF heads in the field. It’s durable and repairable — if you catch problems early and rule out the cheap causes before replacing it.
Typical i3200 symptoms
- Missing nozzles or banding after idle time
- White channel dropping out (on white-capable setups)
- Deflection — lines firing crooked
- Persistent clog that survives cleaning cycles
Fix the cheap causes first
On an i3200, a “bad head” is often a clogged damper, a failing cap station, or neglected white-ink circulation starving the nozzles. Service those and run a controlled recovery before you ever buy a head.
When the head really is done
- Nozzles stay dead after damper, cap and soak service
- Physical deflection from nozzle-plate damage
- A head strike or contact event
If you do replace, fix what killed the old one — usually a bad cap or wiper — and budget for alignment and calibration so the new head prints clean.
