DTF Powder Shaker & Dryer Problems

A DTF transfer is only as good as its cure. When the powder shaker or dryer misbehaves you get weak adhesion, scorching, or crooked film — here’s what to check.

DTF Powder Shaker & Dryer Problems

Common shaker/dryer symptoms

  • Powder not melting fully — transfers peel or wash out
  • Scorched or discolored film — too much heat/dwell
  • Uneven powder application — patchy adhesion
  • Film feeding crooked or jamming
  • Dryer not reaching or holding temperature

What to check

  1. Confirm the set temperature and belt/dwell speed match your powder and film.
  2. Check the powder hopper and application system for clogs or damp powder.
  3. Inspect film tracking and tension through the feed path.
  4. Verify the heating element and fans are actually running.
  5. Clean built-up powder from sensors and the chamber.

Heating & sensor faults

If temperature is wrong or unstable, suspect a failing heating element, thermostat or temperature sensor. Those are repairable — but they need diagnosis, not more guessing on time-and-temp.
